Earrings
Earrings are as old as civilisation itself, but throughout the centuries their design and significance has been refined. In the Rennaissance, earrings of gold and precious stones were worn by upper-class gentlemen including Shakespeare. But the jewellery item didn’t gain widespread popularity in Western culture until the Victorian era when earrings became an adornment of feminine beauty. The 1900s was a golden era in earrings when they became an emblem of femininity and their beauty in framing a woman’s face was most appreciated.
