Cut Steel Georgian Shoe Buckles

Considered the height of fashion in the 17th and 18th centuries, shoe buckles were made from many different materials, and were worn by men and women alike. Shoe buckle size increased over the years and peaked around 1780 in size and style. Men’s shoes of this period became lighter and more elegant, with all stylish invention and adornment channelled into the buckle. Women soon followed in their pursuit of elegant buckles.
